It is basically possible to test biometric systems using conventional test methods and procedures from the area of IT security, and to integrate them into traditional security concepts. However, their special characteristics - in particular as regards their failure rates and the evaluation of weaknesses - generally mean that the relevant valid criteria have to be interpreted. This is why the experience of the inspection body is particular important when testing such systems.
Our service
Testing of the security characteristics of biometric systems according to recognised directives, guidelines and standards (e.g. Common Criteria)
Planning and implementation of weakness analyses for biometric systems
Planning and performance of investigations into failure rates of biometric systems
Integration of biometric systems into existing security concepts
Benefit/Usefulness to you
The TÜViT testing body has long years of comprehensive and in-depth experience in the testing of biometric systems
Basically this means that all test procedures are open to manufacturers and customers of biometric systems
The procedure
Workshop for identification of the desired inspection and testing
Identification of the special characteristics of the system
If necessary: development of a test concept and discussion of possible approaches
Inspection
The objective
To create confidence in the security features of biometric systems
To make it possible to compare the security levels of biometric systems
To make it possible to integrate biometric systems into traditional security concepts
