In its specifications, ZKA (Central Credit Committee of the German banks), as representative of the most important German banking associations and federations, lays down the security standard of the components and systems used for electronic payments. Such systems include, for example, debit, credit and cash cards, electronic cash terminals and/or POS Terminals as well as the network infrastructure within which these are operated.
In order to prove adherence to the ZKA specifications, it is necessary to undergo an approval procedure. This includes a proof of conformity, which has to be provided by means of a function test and also a security evaluation.
