Dirk Kretzschmar is a graduate engineer in information technology and has been an IT security expert for more than 15 years. After completing his studies, he worked as a research assistant in the planning, dimensioning, routing and addressing of data networks at Deutsche Telekom. After moving to Siemens AG, he held various management positions in project management, product management, marketing and business development. From 1999, Kretzschmar headed the international sales organisation for platforms and applications in mobile communications.

When he joined EADS in 2006 as Head of Programs and Customer Care, he was responsible for the organisational and project structure as well as process design for the development of the German digital police radio network BOSNET and was also responsible for the company's operational business, development and service.

In 2009, he joined the subsidiary Rohde & Schwarz PMR as COO and was responsible for global operations until the business was transferred to Hytera. In July 2011, Kretzschmar became a member of the Executive Board, Head of Sales and Head of Crypto Systems Development at Rohde & Schwarz SIT in Berlin.

On 1 June 2015, Dirk Kretzschmar took over the management of TÜV Informationstechnik. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), he has also been responsible for the new Digital & Semiconductor Business Unit within the TÜV NORD GROUP since 2024.

Managing Director of TÜV Informationstechnik GmbH & Head of the IT Security Components Business Field

Simon Ulmer has been Managing Director of TÜV Informationstechnik since November 17, 2025, and also heads the IT Security Components business field. In this role, he is responsible for the strategic development of the company, with a particular focus on cybersecurity, digitalization, and post-quantum cryptography.

He holds an international academic background in molecular chemistry and physics, as well as in engineering, economics, and public administration. He completed his studies in the United States, as well as at the École Normale Supérieure and the Université Paris-Saclay in France. Additionally, he was admitted to the Corps des Mines, a renowned French elite program for training executives for key positions in industry and public administration.

Simon Ulmer began his professional career in the public sector, first as an economic advisor to the Prefect of the Rhône-Alpes region and later as a counselor for economic affairs at the French Embassy in Germany, focusing on economic policy and regulatory issues.

He subsequently held leadership positions at international technology companies. At the ATOS Group, he served as Vice President of Energy, Utilities & Transportation, among other roles, and as Head of the Digital ID / Cyber Products Business Unit at Eviden. In these roles, he was responsible for global business units in the fields of cybersecurity, digital identities, and trusted digital infrastructures.
