Your future colleagues
Michelle Michael works as an IT Security Consultant at TÜVIT. In this interview, she tells us how she came to us, what a typical working day looks like for her and what the most interesting project she has worked on so far has been.
The working atmosphere at TÜVIT in 3 words:
I've been with TÜVIT since 2016 and applied for an interesting job advert straight after graduating, which was a good match for the topic of my Master's thesis (communications engineering, industrial security). I've been with the company for so long now because I like the whole working environment - with everything that goes with it: like working on exciting topics, the challenges in every new customer project and the flexibility of the work. I enjoy coming to work every day.
I am an IT security auditor and consultant specialising in ISO 27001, KRITIS, IEC 62443 and also a project manager. In various customer projects, I audit compliance with certain norms and standards for different companies. I did my bachelor's degree in engineering in India and a master's degree in communications engineering specialising in IT security at the University of Giessen.
In principle, there is no typical working day. When I visit customers, I check compliance with certain requirements using special test plans. These are usually created in advance on the basis of a Q&A with the customer or on the basis of a demonstration of certain requirements and implementations.
I carry out various other activities in the office or from home, such as preparing for and following up on audits, document reviews, analyses or answering enquiries in my role as contact person for the inspection body.
I am also involved in committee work, where I work together with experts from other companies and institutions on the development and definition of new standards and test methods. Giving presentations on IEC 62443 and working on innovation projects are also part of my job.
What motivates me is that every customer project always brings new challenges. This means that the work never gets boring.

IT Security Consultant
What I enjoy most is working with customers to find new solutions for their specific problems. The dialogue with national and international experts through my committee work is also exciting every time, as it keeps me very close to the latest technological and regulatory developments.
There have been many interesting projects over the years, but I particularly remember the innovation project that led to the development of our testing service for the IEC 62443 standard. We then used this as the basis for testing the SCADA solution of a wind farm as part of a customer project. Specifically, this involved testing various attack scenarios on this wind farm and whether it could be attacked remotely.
Spending time with family and friends is important to me in my free time. I also enjoy travelling and love exploring new cities. I also spend 4 weeks in my home country of India every year and I am glad that my employer makes this possible.
Definitely 100 %. Thanks to the flexibility of being able to work outside the office and the uncomplicated holiday planning, this is possible at any time.
