Deutsche Börse's new data center successfully certified by TÜVIT

As an operator of critical infrastructures, high availability data centers are of great importance to Deutsche Börse. In order to ensure a uniform basis for the assessment of their data centers, TÜV Informationstechnik (TÜVIT) was selected to audit the construction of a new data center in the Rhine-Main region using the TSI standard.

Trusted Site Infrastructure (TSI) is a methodology established in 2001 for evaluating and certifying the physical security and availability of data centers and is based on the TSI.STANDARD criteria catalogue developed by TÜVIT (TÜV NORD GROUP). It has a very high level of acceptance by the regulatory and supervisory authorities, especially in the financial services and banking environment.

Support throughout the entire development process

Already at the beginning of the project, the clear target definition was “Certification according to TSI.STANDARD Level 3 as well as conformity with the European data center standard EN 50600 (AC3)”, which is the highest possible classification of a data center.

In order to achieve this goal for the new building, TÜVIT accompanied the individual process steps from planning to completion and commissioning of the data center in a quality assurance and monitoring manner. The orientation towards the standards of TÜVIT gave Deutsche Börse the advantage of being able to plan the complex project holistically.

Starting with the selection process in the tender phase, through the examination of the concepts and plans, to quality assurance measures during construction and the final technical/structural acceptance, the project culminated in the successfully completed certification.

TSI – a proven methodology

With precisely formulated criteria and different evaluation aspects, the assessment and certification program takes a holistic approach including a close look at the physical infrastructure of the data center as well as organisational processes and documentation. The aim is to optimally secure the data center by implementing and fulfilling the various structural, organisational and technical requirements and thus ensuring the highest possible availability of the supplying infrastructure.

Since the introduction of the TSI.STANDARD, for more than 20 years, it has been consistently developed in line with the latest technology and standards.
